Our client provides accounting automation solutions, with knowledge spanning everything from tax returns to audits and daily accounting needs. Their business is unique, but the keywords their customers use to find them are also shared by other high authority law and accounting firms.
Being in a competitive niche, the firm needed to stand out in search rankings to capture more leads and drive website traffic.
Before working with Authority Builders, the accounting firm received about 238 organic visitors per month from about 400 keywords. In less than six months, Authority Builders tripled the firm’s organic traffic to 817 visitors from 1,094 keywords, many of which have a competitive difficulty rating.
The Strategy
We suggested our ABC Plus service for six months with a focus on building high DR 40+ backlinks to increase the site’s authority. A higher domain authority should lead to higher rankings for existing keywords and potentially new keywords.
We know the competitiveness of the law and accounting niche. Businesses in this niche can vary widely but often compete for many of the same terms. Differentiation is key for content, and optimizing for search intent will help the firm capture more quality traffic.
Our team meticulously identified backlink opportunities on relevant sites to spur organic SEO growth.
The Results
The most noticeable difference for SMSF Australia was the 3x in traffic, moving from 238 organic visitors to 817 visitors in less than six months. This meant three times more potential leads to nurture and three times more opportunities to build on these SEO gains.
As part of our backlink strategy, we focused on high-authority sites in the law and accounting niche and added 97 referring domains to the client’s portfolio. This contributed to an increase in the domain authority score, which now sits at 33.
The client also ranks for more than 1,000 organic keywords, an uptick from 417 keywords six months prior. We aimed for the low-hanging fruit first to achieve some quick wins. These easy keywords allowed us to build on this strategy in tandem with our link-building, which made it easier to rank for keywords with a higher difficulty. Many of the keywords they’re ranking for on Google’s page one also include local search terms (e.g., Australia, Gold Coast, Canberra), which send them relevant, targeted traffic each month.
Last Word
Trying to rank in a competitive niche usually requires multiple techniques and an aggressive timeline. With this law and accounting client, we established a six-month campaign timeline that included an analysis, backlinking strategy, and careful monitoring to ensure we could achieve noticeable results in less time than promised.
