The beauty industry’s size and variety have metamorphosized into a vast number of smaller niches, from makeup to Botox. But despite these niche-specific businesses, beauty companies still face competition across the industry, especially when it comes to keywords and search traffic.

Before working with Authority Builders, our customer who runs a dermal filler and beauty products online store had a domain rating of 15 and earned 958 monthly visitors. 

With the competitiveness of an industry valued at $670.8 billion, the brand needed to strengthen its presence in organic search to grow its business. 

Here’s how Authority Builders helped them increase its traffic by 56% using strategic link-building.

The Strategy

We applied our ABC Plus 500 service to help our client build online authority, which would create a ripple effect of SEO benefits. Backlinks are directly connected to domain authority, so we began with strategically placing backlinks on relevant sites using hand-selected anchor text. 

The keywords used in anchor text give search engines context about the linked content while also helping to drive free traffic to the client’s site. We focused on a combination of collection and product pages to spur sales. We also wanted to rank these pages because they have a high search intent and target customers who are likely ready to buy.

The Results

When we started working with Foxy Fillers, their site had a domain rating of 15, which indicates some backlinks and growing authority. Over 11 months of consistent link building, we’ve nearly doubled domain authority to 28.

Traffic volume has increased substantially, from 958 organic visitors to 1.5K visitors. This is a direct result of link-building, as the client is receiving more traffic from referral sites and higher placement in the SERPs.

Last but not least, search engines have associated 2.5K keywords with our client’s site—that’s a 203% increase in keywords since we started working together. Search engines discover new keywords for websites in two ways: by optimizing on-page content for keywords and by using off-page techniques like link-building. The client was already seeing results from 958 keywords, which indicates good on-page optimization. But the size of the beauty industry gave us hope that they could acquire more keywords, 62 of which hold a Top 3 position in search results.
