Finding a financial planner online requires more than just a simple Google search. Consumers aren’t willing to hand over their finances to just anyone. They want to ensure their financial partners are credible, reputable, and skilled. That’s why it’s so important to rank in the top few results for this niche if you want to attract organic traffic—top results are seen as the most authoritative.
Our customer, a financial planner for Kiwis, has a niche way of helping Kiwis build their wealth. They focus on new-build investment properties, which separates them from general financial advisors and other investment firms.
However, because their audience might be searching more broadly, the client needed a way to capitalize on all potential traffic.
Here’s how we helped to grow organic traffic, domain authority, and organic keywords over 32 months.
The Strategy
Our client chose the ABC Plus package, which prioritizes link-building on niche, high-authority websites. Choosing websites with a domain rating of 20-65 allows their established authority to pass on to our client’s site. A higher DA rating is a direct result of quality links, plus they can send free referral traffic to the client’s site.
To create quality links, we focused on keywords that had the highest search potential based on user intent. We grabbed the low-hanging fruit first, which made it easier to rank for more difficult terms as we “snowballed” their strategy.
The Results
Now in Month 32 of ABC Plus, our client has seen an increase in organic traffic from 2,818 to 31.2K monthly visitors. Traffic is one of the top indicators of a quality website, which helps a site rank higher in organic results. Referring domains and traffic have a direct correlation, and both have grown significantly over the last couple of years.
Sitewide authority has increased from DR 37 to DR 50, a direct testament to the quality of the links from our partner sites. As an added benefit, backlinks do not disappear often, which means the links we’ve built for the past 32 months can continue to deliver value to our client’s site.
We’ve also increased the number of ranking keywords from 3,029 to 23.2K. Each keyword gives the client more opportunities to appear in front of more searchers, which has a trickle-down effect on traffic and ongoing SEO value.
