How One Dog Bed Company Gained 4x Traffic and Doubled Organic Keywords

For every big consumer industry, there are dozens of smaller niches that cater to specific needs and interests. Our client who is a leader in orthopedic dog beds, uses organic search to reach more consumers and help pets in need.

To increase its visibility in search rankings, the company needed to grow beyond their current DR.

Backlinks are the most effective and direct way to do this. Here’s what we did to build authority and create an impact on organic traffic.

The Strategy

Our customer target a niche audience rather than the general population. This helped us identify specific long-tail keywords that not only matched the brand’s products but also had high search intent and conversion potential.

We also took the opportunity to find relevant niche pet websites that had the strongest chance of driving qualified traffic to the site. Again, given the narrow market (e.g., dog owners with disposable income who need a special bed for an aging or arthritic dog), we had to be selective about the sites in our network so we could create tangible results for our client.

The Results

Over the course of 15 months, our ABC Plus service helped our client quadruple the organic traffic from 4,293 visits to 16.6K visits (and a peak of 17,225 visits). 

We also used backlinks to help search engines discover new keywords for our client site. The pet industry as a whole is large, which creates massive potential for our client to pick up generic and niche keywords. They started with 2,514 keywords and now gain traffic from more than 4.6K keywords—an 83% increase. Of those keywords, 308 rank in the Top 3 positions in search results.

Last Word

While niche websites have a smaller target area market, they can have massive potential in organic search results. Link-building gives companies like George Barclay the best “bark” for their buck by creating expotential value. Links are a sign of authority and increase DR along with referral traffic and organic keywords. In turn, we can create an ongoing cycle of traffic, authority, and rankings that lead to sustainable success. As one metric increases, the others follow and set the stage for ongoing success.
